Clos Marole

Clos Marole is one of around 30 Premier Cru vineyard of the Givry appellation in the Côte Chalonnaise subregion of Burgundy. Domaine Joblot’s Pinot Noir bottling seems to be by far the most prominent and easiest example to find.

The property lies immediately to the northwest of the central part of Givry village, in a subtle fold in the hillside giving an easterly to southeasterly aspect. The plot extends from the outskirts of the village some way up the hill, in a long strip.

At the top is a small section within the clos which has Givry AOP rather than Premier Cru status.

The vineyard is also known as Clos Grand Marole. Unsurprisingly the Petit Marole Premier Cru is an immediate neighbor, directly to the northeast.
