This is also brooding and reticent with an intensely earthy nose of both red and dark pinot fruit that is trimmed in hints of game, leather and herbal tea. The old vines are very much in evidence as there is a true abundance of palate soaking dry extract that imparts a velvety mouth feel to the mid-palate and buffers the very firm tannins on the youthfully austere, complex and hugely long finish. This is seriously impressive.
