The 2017 Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru shows quite a lot of oak on the nose, missing the delineation of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, good substance and grippy tannins. Quite firm in the mouth and lightly spiced. The finish feels quite solid and Latricières in style. I suspect this might come good with bottle age. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

A discreet application of wood sets off the ultra-fresh blend of both red and blue pinot fruit, forest floor and suggestions of sauvage character. Here too there is excellent size, weight and power to the well-delineated and solidly stony flavors that possess lovely balance and persistence along with excellent complexity on the impressive long, linear and serious finale. This tightly wound effort will require extended patience but it´s certainly promising.
