The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru has a very attractive bouquet with freshly sliced pears, wet limestone and flinty aromas gently unfolding from the glass. Classy. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, nicely focused with admirable concentration towards the saline finish. A sense of completeness here. Excellent.
The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières offers up notes of crisp orchard fruit, white peach, freshly baked bread and clear honey. Medium-bodied, satiny and delicate, it´s open-knit, with bright acids and a mineral finish. Despite its deceptively giving, delicate profile, I suspect it will put on a bit of wait with a little more time in bottle.
Firm reduction overshadows the underlying fruit today. However, there is a wonderfully textured, even seductive, mouthfeel to the muscular yet refined middle weight plus flavors that brim with dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm acid spine while delivering good but not truly special length. However, I suspect that once this cleans up the persistence will improve with it.
