Moderately saturated red-ruby color. Blacker fruits on the nose than the Petite-Chapelle, complicated by licorice, minerals and game. At once sappy and energetic; less sensual in its texture than the Petite-Chapelle but more refined, delineated and light on its feet. In a more youthful style, delivering intense, vibrant flavors of cassis, redcurrant, raspberry and spices. The very long, slowly mounting finish displays outstanding class, with the late-arriving, tooth-dusting tannins quite firm but utterly suave.
This is fresher though still quite ripe with its restrained nose of freshly turned earth, animale, forest floor and that certain Gevrey character which suffuses the red and dark currant aromas. There is exceptionally good volume and ample richness to the tautly muscular but velvet-textured mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors that deliver excellent length on the mildly austere finale. This is still very much a work in progress and I would suggest buying this only if you have the patience to cellar it as it´s going to need every bit of 12 to 15 years.
