Good full, bright red. Subtle, high-pitched aromas of cherry, tobacco, leather and dried rose. Sweet, creamy and deep, with some CO2 adding to the impression of freshness. Wonderfully perfumed, very long wine, finishing with outstanding finesse of tannins, complex saline soil tones, and terrific energy and lift. Pommard without a whisper of rusticity.
A fresh, cool and restrained nose of surpassing elegance displays airy red berry fruit, in particular raspberry and currant. Interestingly for a Rugiens, this is almost delicate on the mid-palate but there is excellent power and plenty of underlying tension to the very firmly structured, linear and somewhat strict if wonderfully persistent and impeccably well-balanced finish. I wouldn´t buy this unless you expressly intend to cellar it for at least a decade.
