The pronounced floral and sauvage elements add considerable breadth to the very fresh and overtly spicy nose of earth, cassis and wild red berry fruit aromas. There is plenty of punch and muscle to the intense, detailed and markedly mineral-inflected broad-shouldered flavors that deliver huge length on the explosive finish that remains beautifully balanced. This built-to-age beauty will require a very long slumber in a cool cellar and will not be a candidate for early consumption.

(90% vendange entier): Medium ruby-red. Aromas of blackberry and licorice show a superripe suggestion of torrefaction as well as an element of cold soil. More vibrant in the mouth than the nose suggests, offering terrific tension and intensity to the tightly wound flavors of dark berries and spices. The spicy, peppery, youthfully tough tannins will require patience. These 2011s are all between 12.5% and 12.7% alcohol in bottle, according to Bernard Dugat.
