Denis Bachelet's superb 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes opens in the glass with a deep nose of crunchy cassis, red cherry and rose petal, mingling with bass notes of rich soil, espresso roast and grilled meat. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and complete, with excellent concentration, succulent acids and rich structuring tannins. Bachelet's Vieilles Vignes bottling always rewards cellaring, and that will be especially true of this 2015.

Here the expressive nose offers up both upper and lower register aromas of pomegranate, red cherry, earth and underbrush. The notably rich and enveloping medium weight flavors possess excellent delineation and a subtle minerality that carries over to the extract-rich and mouth coating finale. This is first-rate and should drink well both young and with 6 to 8 years of age. Recommended.
