There are three parcels of vine that constitute the 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, including some premier cru fruit that Bruno remarked lends the cuvee its finesse. The nose is dainty, light and pure with tertiary red fruit – perhaps just a little sulky at the moment, but the palate is very well balanced, elegant and refined with a long red berry and iodine-tinged finish. I would not ask any more from a Gevrey village.

This is very Gevrey in character with its sauvage and distinctly earthy aromas of dark berries, humus and underbrush. There is good richness yet reasonably good detail on the medium weight flavors where the shaping tannins possess good phenolic maturity, all wrapped in a tension filled, mineral-inflected and moderately austere finish that displays enough rusticity to notice. If you enjoy classic Gevrey, this would be a good one to buy.
