Domaine Michel Gaunoux is a wine producer based in the village of Pommard, in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or. The 10-hectare (25-acre) domaine comprises several top vineyard sites including a one-hectare (three-acre) parcel in the Grand Cru Corton Les Renardes, as well as several Pommard Premier Cru plots, a Meursault Premier Cru vineyard holding and a Beaune Premier Cru.

The domaine was founded by the Gaunoux family in the late 19th Century and is now managed by Alexandre Gaunoux. The domaine is unique in that the wines are not allowed to be tasted until after élevage and bottling (in other words, tastings from barrel in situ are extremely rare).

Winemaking methods at the domaine are traditional with harvesting at full ripeness, high-temperature primary fermentation and malolactic fermentations using natural yeasts. The wines are aged in barriques but with a minimal proportion of new oak.

Domaine Michel Gaunoux’s Pommard Premier Cru parcels of Pinot Noir are situated in Les Grands Epenots, Les Rugiens Bas and Les Arvelets. The largest of these is the three-hectare (seven-acre) plot of Les Grands Epenots, while the parcel of Les Rugiens Bas stands at just one hectare (2.5 acres).

The Meursault Premier Cru parcel of Chardonnay vines is located in the well-regarded Genevrières Premier Cru vineyard while the domaine’s Beaune Premier Cru climat (Pinot Noir) is in Les Épenotes.

The portfolio also extends to regional designations covering the Pinot Noir-based Bourgogne Rouge and Beaune Rouge, and a Meursault Chardonnay.
